I planted drought-tolerant seeds, fed and weighed chickens, and used a mobile phone to monitor weather forecasts and local crop prices.
We live in a time of unprecedented progress. It’s a shame that we often overlook it.
By nearly every measure the world is a better place to live than ever before. Global poverty is going down, childhood deaths continue to drop, and literacy rates and women’s empowerment are improving.
And yet, many people think the world is falling apart.
How can this be?
I think one big reason that people are pessimistic about the future is that they don’t account for the power of innovation. They simply extrapolate from what is going on today and don’t consider how new innovations and insights can fundamentally shift the trajectory of a current trend. If you don’t expect to see change, you won’t look for it.
“If you don’t expect to see change, you won’t look for it.”

Your job is to spot some of the innovations that are having a big impact on the world. I think you’ll discover that some of the most amazing innovations are hidden in plain sight.
Ready or not, here you come. Good luck!
